ABOUT ME
I wasn't always sure what I wanted to be when I "grew up." Beyond that, I never really knew when I would officially be a "grown up." In fact, that's something I'm still trying to figure out.
Along my journey to discovering design, I studied several different fields, all of which I'm sure helped lead me to design, and aid me in my thought process every day. From an intense desire to be a teacher, to a psychologist, to an oceanographer, to a special FX make-up artist. Something kept pulling me back to what I loved as a teenager: writing for my high school newspaper and pouring my blood, sweat, and tears into 3 separate yearbooks.
Finally, it occurred to me - people build magazines the same way I built yearbooks. That's a real job! That's what I should study! I dove headlong into typography, color theory, and published layout. After all, that's where my heart really is.
Somehow, throughout my journey, I managed to fulfill half of a quote I'd kept in the back of my head through out my life: "I'll see you when I get there. On the video, or the radio. In the magazine, on the
TV screen."
I worked in video production, and later would work as the in-house designer for a broadcasting corporation with two local radio stations under its belt. Occasionally, they even let me talk on the radio. In 2017 I made a big change to the non-profit world, but always kept design in my background.
So what's left? The magazine, and the TV screen. Won't you join me on the rest of my journey?
